Our lip volume is genetically determined, and in most of us it reduces with age. Lip enhancement can help to gain or restore lip volume, and has become very popular here at White Horse Aesthetic Clinic. Our patients are seeking more sensuous and fuller, natural-looking lips.
Lip fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component found in the lip. Hyaluronic acid holds water, which imparts volume and hydrates the lips.
When carried out in a clinical setting, lip enhancement is a simple and safe technique. A topical anaesthetic is applied 15 – 20 mins prior to treatment to numb the area. The gel-like solution is then injected into the lips, adding volume and definition.
The results are immediate:
- Volume, shape and definition are added to thin lips
- Contouring creates fuller upper and lower lips
- A “sad mouth” is lifted
- The Cupid’s bow is restored and lips look more proportionate
How long do lip injection treatments last?
The fillers last from 6 – 12 months, depending on how the individual responds to the filler. Some people degrade the filler faster than others. The lip filler is biodegradable and will break down gradually over time.
Are there any common side effects with lip enhancement?
Bruising is the most common side effect, but this should settle over a few days.
Can lip enhancements be combined with other treatments?
Thinning of the lips occurs naturally with age, so lip fillers often work well with other cosmetic treatments that address signs of ageing, such as Botox. Visit our services page for a full list of procedures, or contact us to discuss your options.
